VOICE OF NANSEI

The exhaustive and increasing numbers of farmer suicides in the recent years, are a clear indication of the threat our agricultural sector is under. Droughts, debt and crop failure leading to low returns have been the major reasons for farmers’ agony. The humiliation and the sheer helplessness of not being able to provide themselves and their families with basic necessities like food and shelter, compel them to commit suicide.

The Purpose For Our Existence

Addressing to this sad state of affairs, Nansei is an initiative to bring people’s attention to this vulnerability and put an end to it, in Tamil Nadu.

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

The organization strives to help each and every despaired farmer of Tamil Nadu by instilling hope in them. We are also focused on preserving the indigenous flora of the land. Our volunteers are our biggest and best asset. They work relentlessly to mitigate the conditions of the farmers.

The volunteers are educated on the current situation of the farmers; assigned roles in our organization; allocated projects to work on; and in whole uplift their integrity and temperament.

OUR ROLE

Team NanSei approaches severely hit drought areas in Tamil Nadu to conduct a detailed survey on the farmers’ financial situation. Information such as their monthly income, acres of land owned, equipment owned and current debt shall be assessed before money is donated to them.

I have realized that volunteering not only helps the corporates give back to the society, but also reveals the considerate and generous character of an individual. The more efforts you make, the more you receive in terms of learning, experience and contentment.

We always think that to make a positive impact on the environment we will have to do something really huge, but that's not true. Even small things can go a long way in making a difference.

I had the opportunity to step into a farmer's shoe, although for a day, and do my bit towards helping the villagers on the irrigation facility front.
